Why Would Volkswagen make a Cola Commercial for the Superbowl?

Back in 2011 Volkswagen got a lot of acclaim for the cute spot with the kid trying to be Darth Vader. Of course I felt it was a total waste of money. Even the high amount of You Tube views is not impressive. In fact no one watches Brand Ads on Youtube

So VW is back with a feel good car campaign. They bring in Jimmy Cliff, some humor, and debut it early to generate a buzz..Ironically what they did was create a Soft Drink Commercial. Check this out.

My main questions to you the reader is why? Is this selling cars? They don’t even show one. They have 670,000 Views as of this writing. In 5 days. There are a few billion internet users in the world.

Call to VW to tell them pull the spot save the millions and reinvest that elsewhere in a way that generates sales not soft drinks.
